Take a step back in time and visit the pristine luxury of this lovely home built in 1892. Imagine standing in the shoes of the homeowner, the late Samuel Nelson–local entrepreneur and owner of the Farm & Merchants State Bank and the Nelson Brothers Grocery Store, both in downtown Lanesboro.

Consider what thoughts he might have shared with his lovely wife, Julia, as they peered out over the shady wrap-around veranda, perhaps contemplating the

future of Lanesboro during his term as mayor of the city, or perhaps concerns about the development of Minnesota as an early St. Paul statesman.

It was here that Samuel and his beloved wife raised their ten children–7 boys and 3 girls–and it was here that Julia died after 25 devoted years of marriage. The March 12, 1904 issue of the Lanesboro Local reported “...no lady was better beloved, more honored and respected than the late Mrs. Nelson...”

The GARDEN ROOM is a large, airy suite adorned with furnishings reminiscent of a lovely rose garden. It features a queen-sized bed and an adjoining private bath with hand-held shower and built-in tub. ($120 per night)*

The MISS JULIA ROOM features a roomy suite that is bright and cheerful and offers your choice of either a king-sized bed or two twin beds. The sunny bath in the 2nd floor turret includes a soaker tub, shower and seating. ($135 per night)*

The SAMUEL NELSON ROOM is the spacious “Master” suite that features a generous king-sized bed and a lovely sunny bath with Jacuzzi tub and wrap-around shower. ($135 per night)*
